Index
Group privacy
Group privacy determines if your Microsoft 365 Group can be accessed freely by your users (Public), or be accessed by approved members only (Private).
Use the dropdown to select your desired setting.
External sharing
Files and folders in your Microsoft 365 Group can be shared with people outside of your organization.
The External sharing setting lets you determine how permissive you want the external sharing to be in your Microsoft 365 Group. You have following choices:
- Anyone (users can share files and folders using links that do not require sign-in)
- New and existing guests (guests must sign in or provide a verification code)
- Existing guests (only guests already in your organization's directory)
- Only people in your organization (no external sharing allowed)
Use the dropdown to select your desired setting.
Note: You can only set external sharing for your Microsoft 365 Group within the organization-level external sharing setting. For example, if your organization has your SharePoint environment set to restrict sharing with new and existing guests, the option With anyone will be grayed out and you will not be able to use it on your Microsoft 365 Group.
Guest access
Your users can add Guests (users from outside your organization) in your Microsoft 365 Group to collaborate with them.
You can determine if it is allowed for owners to add guests in your Microsoft 365 Group.
Use the dropdown to select your desired setting.
Note: Your organization-level setting for guest access can affect the guest access of your Microsoft 365 Group. If set to not allowed, the guest access setting at the group-level will be ignored. If set to allowed, the guest access setting at the group-level will be used.
Group sensitivity labels
You can collaborate with your owners to automatically apply the right security settings for your organization through Group sensitivity labels.
